Wolves In The Throne Room is clearly one of the most important black metal bands of this century. They created the third wave of the trend, while still being unmistakable and unmatched. This is black metal inspired by a huge load of atmosphere saturated with spirituality - fervent, but also reflective. There are also ambient passages... An above-average lineup.

Gaerea has been making its own trek towards the pinnacles of black metal for a couple of years now, and they are undoubtedly good at it. The Portuguese make real hits that can catch the ear of both iron orthodox and green newcomers. Blasts, tremolos, big melodies - great stuff.

And now some swamp and much larger amounts of dirt. Mortiferum squishes the listener in every possible way. It's swampy and successively creeping death/doom to the point of bafflement. Zero mercy.
