Black metal and death metal heavyweights together? No problem - all you have to do is turn up at Warsaw's Proxima on May 18 for Wolves In The Throne Room, Gaerea and Mortiferum.

Without a shadow of embarrassment or exaggeration, Wolves In The Throne Room can be considered one of the biggest and most original black metal bands of the 21st century. Ba, in fact, they led the third wave of the genre themselves, while at the same time being an island band - without a bunch of copycats, because they are so inbred that they are unmistakable. This is black metal inspired by a huge load of atmosphere saturated with spirituality - set to attack, but also to reflect. There are even ambient themes to it as well... Great lineup.

Gaerea has been making its own trek towards the pinnacles of black metal for a couple of years now, and clearly they can succeed. The Portuguese lineup - keeping in mind the spirituality of the trend - makes real hits that both orthodox and newcomers will appreciate. There are acrimonious tremolos, there are blasts, but also great refrains and a hit-ability.

It's time for a change of atmosphere. Mortiferum crushes the listener and drops stone blocks on him. This is slow, swampy and successively creeping death/doom. Zero mercy.
