Folk in an exceptionally bleak and sometimes downright bizarre way - that's what you'll get on July 10 at Sopot's Forest Opera House. Heilung, Sowulo and Kalandra will pour out their seventh sweat on stage.

When you say "Heilung" - you think "Vikings." And sure, this international collective has gained its greatest fame from the aforementioned series, for which it created music, but their scale of possibilities reaches much wider. Heilung does folk, but it is by no means ordinary folk. It is dominated by cinematicism, but in a maximally dark, gloomy sense, and is complemented by unusual arrangements and constantly generated anxiety. The Forest Opera House would be an ideal setting for them.

Sowulo, quite like Heilung, also focus on darkness, but in a slightly different way. Their approach to folk is more minimalist, although on the other hand they often deliver pomp and pathos, from which the heart starts beating faster. Unusual instrumentation, such as Irish bouzouki, also draws attention.

The most pop-oriented, but equally ambitious and poignant thing in the set, that is Kalandra. The Norwegian lineup moves halfway between artistic pop, densely seeded with complex melodies, and equally artistic rock. In the process, they don't forget about the folk influences - and how.
